Super-8

Shot as an unplanned test for a couple of cameras, the results just got editted together as best as possible.

16mm

After establishing the cost of 16mm film in many cases was no more than super-8, and in some circumstances could actually work out cheaper, I splashed out on a basic clockwork camera.

Krasnogorsk 3 Camera

Before passing any film through, I took it apart to give it a bit of a service and carry out a couple of modifications. Then it was time to test the new purchase.

Beaulieu R16 Camera

Whilst the K3 was a good basic camera, it does have limitations. The next model to pass my way was the R16. An electric motor replaced the clockwork spring, and a somewhat higher level of build quality makes it a much nicer camera to use.

Armed with a couple of spools of film it was time to carry out a few tests...

A day spent at the "Great Dorset Steam Fair", was followed by a day at "Bishop's Castle Michaelmas Fair".

Unfortunately these highlighted an alignment issue, and it seemed the collection of cheap TV lenses were best retired in favour of a higher quality cine lens. A service sorted the alignment issues, but the next outing was cut short when bright sunny weather soon gave way to dismal rain...
Oh well, you can't win them all!

...and the next attempt was a bit dull and wet at times as well!

Eclair NPR Camera

In an altogether different league from the previous cameras. The NPR when it was introduced was a revolutionary design of silent sync-sound production camera. After a service and adjust, elements of the previous "Bishop's Castle to Woore" film were shot on the NPR as a test.
