The Severn Valley Railway's autumn steam gala features 24 hour running. However, even at 11 O'Clock at night the platforms are crowded with people and the trains are packed. Any thoughts of setting up a tripod and getting a 10 second unobstructed view of a locomotive have to be forgotten. I understand the railway does go to sleep in the early hours of the morning, about 2am - unfortunately so am I at that time!
